“Transforming Our World”
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, endorsed by all UN Member States in 2015, outlines a global framework for advancing peace, prosperity, and environmental stewardship. Central to this agenda are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which call for coordinated action from all nations. The SDGs emphasize that eliminating poverty and other forms of disadvantage requires integrated efforts to improve health, education, economic opportunity, and equality, while simultaneously addressing climate change and protecting natural ecosystems.
The 2030 SDGs Game is a 3 hour experiential simulation game, that exposes leaders to the tensions and trade-offs in achieving the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Participants explore what could happen to our world by 2030. Participants, in teams, receive a goal and take various actions to achieve that goal from now until 2030. This world simulation game has become a powerful social phenomenon reaching more than 250,000 people in over 20 countries worldwide.
This unique virtual simulation based learning experience brings about a deep and profound realisation that we are not doing nearly enough to build a better world for future generations.
In order to build a better world, participants will need to be able to influence and cooperate with fellow participants both individually and collectively. The simulation will show, despite the best intentions, how difficult that this can be. During the final debrief session participants will be challenged to relate the experience back to their own personal sphere of influence.
